Machine Operator

Job Description

The Machine Operator sets up and operates a production line that cuts and forms pre-converted abrasive rolls using computer-controlled equipment and manual tooling. This role ensures products meet exact specifications through precise measurements, visual inspections, and accurate tracking of production output.

Responsibilities

• Operate the production line that cuts and forms pre-converted abrasive rolls according to job specifications.
• Change programs on computer-controlled machines to run the correct jobs and ensure proper settings are applied.
• Manually change tools and cutters to set up jobs in line with production specifications and requirements.
• Perform accurate measurements of finished products using a tape measure to verify adherence to specifications.
• Conduct thorough visual inspections of finished products to identify defects and confirm quality standards.
• Count, track, and log production numbers consistently and accurately for each job run.
• Perform machine set up and changeovers efficiently to support smooth transitions between jobs.
• Use die cutting equipment or similar machinery to process materials as required.
• Monitor machine operation throughout the shift to maintain safety, quality, and productivity.
• Collaborate with team members and follow established procedures to meet production schedules and output goals.

Essential Skills

• 1–3 years of machine operation experience involving multi-step processes.
• Proficiency in reading and using a tape measure for precise measurements.
• Strong attention to detail with experience performing visual inspections for quality control.
• Hands-on experience with machine set up and changeover activities.
• Ability to operate die cutting equipment or similar production machinery.
• Comfort working with CNC or other computer-controlled machine lines.
• Capability to change programs on computer systems and adjust machine parameters as needed.
• Reliable ability to count, track, and log production numbers accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Direct experience with die cutters or similar production lines is preferable.
• Background performing machine set ups in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Experience operating CNC or other computer-controlled machine lines is helpful.
• Familiarity with multi-step production processes in a clean, climate-controlled facility.

Work Environment

The work environment is clean and climate controlled, providing a comfortable and consistent setting throughout the year. Work is performed on computer-controlled machinery and die cutting equipment within an organized manufacturing facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Troy, OH.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
