Per Diem Clinical Pharmacist in Big Bear Lake, CA
Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A unique opportunity is available for a skilled pharmacist to provide two weeks of critical coverage in August 2026 at a peaceful inpatient hospital facility nestled in a scenic Southern California town. This per diem position demands a dedicated professional with inpatient and sterile compounding expertise, willing to handle weekday day shifts and be available for on-call duties during weekends and after hours.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (full-time)
- On-call weekends and after hours (infrequent calls expected)
Responsibilities:
- Verify and review medication orders to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety
- Compound sterile medications, including IV admixtures and unit dose medications (note: no chemotherapy or hazardous drugs involved)
- Respond to emergency room codes as needed
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, state and federal laws, and compounding standards
- Monitor medication therapy and provide clinical guidance to healthcare providers
- Potentially fill Pyxis machines at two local family health centers
Qualifications:
- Active and clear California Pharmacist License
- Minimum two years of inpatient pharmacy experience
- Experience with CSPI, Evident, or Pyxis software preferred (training available if needed)
- Prior experience as the sole pharmacist in a clinical setting preferred
- Ability to commit to all on-call hours
