Patient Access Representative (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Nashville, TN (On-site, 1818 Albion St area)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Full-Time, 40 hrs/week; 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM mid-shift available for ED focus)
Pay Rate: $18.00 - $24.00/hour (Based on experience)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (Clear path to permanent conversion after 800 hours)
Position Overview
We are seeking dedicated, high-energy Patient Access Representatives to join a mission-driven, community-focused healthcare organization in Nashville. In this versatile role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients across specialty, primary care, and outpatient clinics.
Whether high-volume scheduling, pre-registration, or emergency department registration, your focus will be delivering compassionate, professional service in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Scheduling (Primary Focus): Handle 30-40 inbound/outbound calls daily to schedule specialty, primary care, and outpatient appointments accurately.
Patient Registration: Perform pre-registration, outpatient registration, and/or Emergency Department (ED) check-ins, including face-to-face patient interactions.
Insurance & Financial Coordination: Verify insurance coverage, collect co-pays, and process point-of-service (POS) financial responsibilities.
Referral Management: Support referral coordination and patient outreach as needed.
Patient Service: Maintain a calm, professional, and empathetic demeanor while resolving patient inquiries promptly.
Required Qualifications
2+ years of professional experience in patient access, patient services, call center, or physician office environments.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Proven track record handling high-volume calls/appointments (30-40 per day) in a fast-paced setting.
Clear, professional communication skills and strong critical thinking abilities.
Flexibility and willingness to complete 4 weeks of mandatory on-site training (2 weeks formal classroom + 2 weeks supervised floor training; all cohorts start on Mondays).
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Experience with insurance verification, co-pay collection, and financial counseling.
Associate degree or some college coursework.
