Special Education Teacher | Lapeer, Michigan

Key Qualifications:

• Active CI (Cognitive Impairment) teaching certification required
• Experience supporting students with autism spectrum disorder or related behavioral/mental health needs highly desirable
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a full team approach, including educators, support staff, and families
• Strong behavior management and individualized instruction skills
• Detail-oriented, flexible, and patient communicator

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored academic and behavioral support to one student, aged 8 or 9, on a daily basis
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) reflecting both cognitive and ASD-focused strategies
• Work closely with a team to monitor progress, adapt approaches, and coordinate necessary interventions
• Manage classroom behavior and promote positive mental health practices
• Document student growth and participate in regular team meetings
• Maintain a consistent onsite presence at the Ed Tech Center, adhering to scheduled hours of 7:30 AM – 2:45 PM
