Job Description

This role focuses on operating CNC lathes and CNC mills to produce high-quality machined parts for heavy industrial applications. You will set up and run multi-axis turning and milling production cycles, perform in-process inspections, and edit or program G and M codes as needed, all while maintaining strict quality and safety standards in a machine shop environment.

Responsibilities

  • Run CNC lathes and CNC mills to produce parts according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Set up CNC machines for production cycles, including tooling, workholding, and offsets on multi-axis turning and milling equipment.
  • Program and edit CNC programs using G and M codes, including minor adjustments to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints to determine machining requirements, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Monitor machine operation during production runs and troubleshoot issues related to tooling, setup, and program performance.
  • Maintain quality and safety protocols throughout all machining and inspection activities.
  • Operate machines with Fanuc and Haas controls in both horizontal and vertical milling and lathe configurations.
  • Ensure proper documentation of inspections, setups, and production runs as required by shop procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and continuously improve machining processes.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience operating CNC lathes and CNC mills in a production or machine shop environment.
  • Ability to set up CNC machines, including tooling, fixtures, and offsets for multi-axis turning and milling.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints for machining operations.
  • Working knowledge of G and M codes with the ability to edit CNC programs on the machine control.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers for in-process inspection.
  • Understanding of Fanuc and Haas CNC controls for horizontal and vertical milling and lathe operations.
  • Troubleshooting skills for machine operation, tooling, and program-related issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards in a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background ranging from entry-level technical school graduate to experienced machinist is welcome.
  • Technical school education or formal machining training is beneficial.
  • Experience in CNC machining within a machine shop producing power transmission parts, bulk material handling components, industrial tools, or conveyor pulleys is a plus.
  • Familiarity with tooling selection and setup for different materials and machining operations.
  • Comfort working with horizontal and vertical milling machines and lathes in a production setting.
  • Ability to work independently after training while collaborating effectively with the production team.

Work Environment

This is a machine shop production environment supporting heavy industrial applications, including power transmission parts, bulk material handling systems, industrial hand tools, and conveyor pulleys. The role offers multiple shifts: first shift runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (two openings), and second shift runs Monday through Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. with a 6% shift differential (one opening). New hires train on first shift for approximately 6–10 weeks, depending on skill level. You will work with CNC lathes and mills equipped with Fanuc and Haas controls, using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers, and operating horizontal and vertical milling and turning equipment while adhering to established safety and quality procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Danielsville, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $29.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
