This role offers the opportunity for an experienced carpenter to contribute to a wide range of commercial and residential construction projects. You will perform both rough and finish carpentry, work from detailed plans and specifications, and collaborate closely with project managers, foremen, and other tradespeople to deliver high-quality work. The position requires a strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting the broader construction team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform rough and finish carpentry tasks, including framing, drywall installation, trim work, and cabinetry.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications to plan and execute work accurately.
  • Measure, cut, and shape materials such as wood, drywall, and other building products using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Install structures and fixtures including windows, doors, flooring, and hardware to meet project requirements and quality standards.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and team members to maintain project timelines and ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Follow all company and jobsite safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Assist with site preparation, cleanup, and material handling as needed to support overall project progress.
  • Support a variety of construction activities, including occasional assistance with concrete work when needed.
  • Work reliably on long-term projects and maintain consistent attendance and performance.

Essential Skills

  • 2–3+ years of professional carpentry experience in construction environments.
  • Hands-on experience with steel stud or wood framing.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and project plans.
  • Proficiency in rough carpentry, including framing and structural work.
  • Proficiency in finish carpentry, including trim, cabinetry, and detailed interior work.
  • Experience in commercial construction settings.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to self-start and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to pass a client-required physical and drug test.
  • Comfort working on construction jobsites and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Work Environment

The role is based on active construction jobsites with a small team environment, typically working in crews of 2–5 people. You will experience a variety of projects and responsibilities, contributing to both commercial and residential work. Standard hours are approximately 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with 45–50 hours per week common during the summer months. The work is primarily outdoors and requires comfort working in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. Dress code aligns with typical construction site expectations, focusing on practical, safety-oriented attire suitable for physical work and varying environmental conditions. This is a Permanent position based out of Madison, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
