Job Description
Hertz is hiring an experienced Diesel Bus Mechanic to join our team. If you have strong bus maintenance experience, enjoy hands-on troubleshooting, and want to work for an established industry leader, this is a great opportunity to bring your skills to a fast-paced fleet environment.
In this role, you will perform a wide range of bus maintenance and repair work, from routine preventative maintenance to advanced diagnostics and repairs. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and experienced working with diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and air conditioning systems.
Wage: $30.00/hour + incentives
Bonus: $5000; $2500 paid at 6 months of employment; $2500 at 12 months of employment
What You’ll Do
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on buses and related fleet vehicles
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines and transmissions
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and complete necessary repairs
- Perform oil changes and general maintenance services
- Service air brake and suspension systems
- Diagnose and repair air conditioning systems
- Maintain accurate service records and follow all safety procedures
- Support fleet readiness by ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready for operation
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be at least 25 years old
- 3–5 years of bus repair or diesel fleet maintenance experience
- Valid driver’s license
- CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements required
- Must have your own tools
- ASE certification preferred
- Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and flexible shifts as needed
