Per Diem Clinical Pharmacist - Highland, CA
Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A pharmacy professional is needed for a two-week per diem assignment in August 2026 at an inpatient hospital located in a scenic Southern California town. This role requires direct inpatient pharmacy experience and the ability to compound sterile medications while supporting hospital operations during regular hours and on-call shifts.
Location:
- Highland, CA
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Full-time)
- On-call during weekends and after hours (calls are infrequent)
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify and review medication orders to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety
- Compound sterile medications, including IV admixtures and unit dose preparations (no chemotherapy or hazardous drugs)
- Respond promptly to any emergency room codes that may arise
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and state/federal regulations, especially sterile compounding standards
- Monitor medication therapy and provide clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff
- Refill Pyxis machines at two local family health centers as needed
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active and clear California Pharmacist License (required)
- Minimum of 2 years of inpatient pharmacy experience (required)
- Familiarity with CSPI, Evident, or Pyxis software systems preferred; training available if needed
- Experience working independently as the sole pharmacist in a clinical setting is a plus
- Ability to manage on-call duties effectively
