Job Description

The Facilities Technician performs a wide range of preventative maintenance and repair tasks to ensure building systems, equipment, and grounds are safe, functional, and well-maintained across assigned facilities. This role works in a customer-facing environment and supports the overall comfort and reliability of the property through hands-on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on building systems, equipment, and facilities in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
  • Assist with repairs to building interiors, exteriors, and grounds, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility components.
  • Conduct routine inspections of common areas, equipment rooms, and building systems to identify issues and initiate corrective actions.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance requests in a timely, professional, and customer-focused manner.
  • Support the upkeep of lighting systems, including replacing bulbs, fixtures, and addressing minor electrical issues as needed.
  • Perform basic painting, patching, and cosmetic repairs to maintain a clean and well-presented facility appearance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and system issues, determine root causes, and implement appropriate solutions or escalate when necessary.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of rooftop HVAC units and related components, following safety protocols and site procedures.
  • Work with Variable Air Volume (VAV) boxes and other HVAC distribution equipment as directed.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors regarding maintenance activities and facility needs.
  • Document maintenance work performed, including parts used, time spent, and status updates, using written, verbal, or electronic communication tools.
  • Provide professional, courteous customer service to building occupants and visitors, addressing maintenance concerns and questions.
  • Follow safety guidelines and use proper lifting techniques when handling materials and equipment up to and above 50 lbs.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Adapt to changing priorities, including responding to urgent maintenance issues and working flexible shifts as required.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more on a daily basis while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Strong communication skills, including clear written, verbal, and email communication.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience in customer-facing roles.
  • Hands-on experience with general building maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance tasks on building systems and equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and experience with maintenance repair work.
  • Experience working safely with tools, ladders, and building equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot common facility issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.

Work Environment

This position works onsite across two locations approximately two miles apart in an urban setting. The standard shift runs from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with the requirement to be open to working weekends and to have flexibility to work a first shift from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM when needed. Work is performed in hotel and facility common areas, mechanical spaces, rooftops, and building grounds, without entering occupied hotel rooms. The environment involves regular use of tools, ladders, and building systems, as well as frequent lifting of 50 lbs or more. The role requires adherence to safety procedures and appropriate work attire suitable for maintenance tasks in a professional, customer-facing setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seattle, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
