Production Operator
Job Description
The Press Operator routinely operates molds and presses in a manufacturing environment to produce first article and regular production parts accurately and on time, with minimal supervision. This role follows written procedures, monitors production quality, and recognizes deviations from accepted practices while working collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities- Operate press machines to create parts using molds according to established procedures and specifications.
- Clean and prime parts using appropriate chemicals and solutions to prepare them for further processing.
- Measure stock materials to verify correct thickness and length before and during production.
- Place a variety of materials by hand into molds, on mandrels, or in build fixtures as required by the job order.
- Weigh stock and scrap materials to track usage and identify material that can be salvaged.
- Monitor individual production output to detect bad parts early and prevent defects from continuing through the process.
- Use production equipment and tools, including calipers and scales, on a regular basis to verify measurements and quality.
- Ensure materials handling and related recordkeeping are completed accurately and in accordance with company and ISO standards.
- Follow all internal safety policies and procedures at all times while operating machinery and handling materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, free of safety hazards and clutter, including proper setup at the start and cleanup at the end of each shift.
- Read and interpret tape measurements to ensure parts and materials meet required dimensions.
- Use hand tools to fabricate, finish, and adjust parts as needed to meet production and quality requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with co-workers in a team environment and communicate issues or concerns promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned by production leadership, including Working or Production Leads, Planners, Production Supervisors, and Module Managers.
- Ability to routinely lift and move materials up to 50 lbs safely throughout the shift.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for production and quality checks.
- Proficiency in using hand tools to fabricate and finish parts.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with production machinery and tools.
- Strong attention to detail to identify defects, measure accurately, and follow procedures.
- Good hand dexterity for placing materials in molds and handling small components.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while following written procedures.
- Ability to get along well with co-workers and work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience operating press machines, including Day XL Press or similar equipment.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools such as calipers, depth gauges, micrometers, and other measuring equipment.
- Experience in a production line or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in finishing or as a finisher in a production setting.
- Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of specific formal education requirements.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a manufacturing plant environment and involves working under variable conditions. You may experience temperature instability and atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or vapors. There is exposure to solvents and other industrial chemicals, requiring consistent adherence to safety procedures and use of appropriate protective equipment as provided. The position is physically active, including frequent lifting of materials up to 50 lbs and regular use of production machinery, presses, molds, and measuring tools. Work is performed on the production floor, where maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free area is essential.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mcminnville, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.30 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
