As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide essential day-to-day engineering support for the production of wire bonders and die bonders. You will troubleshoot electro-mechanical, process, tooling, and documentation issues on the manufacturing floor, serving as the primary technical resource for production personnel and technicians.

Responsibilities
  • Resolve production issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain build schedules.
  • Develop, update, and maintain manufacturing instructions, assembly procedures, test procedures, and ERP manufacturing methods.
  • Train and mentor manufacturing technicians on troubleshooting techniques, process discipline, and equipment fundamentals.
  • Lead and support root cause investigations and corrective actions related to quality and production issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, yield, cost reduction, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering teams to improve products and processes.
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) activities and design reviews with a focus on manufacturing readiness.
  • Support tooling development and evaluate designs for manufacturability and production efficiency.
  • Promote lean manufacturing practices, visual management, 5S initiatives, and process standardization.
  • Assist with supplier-related quality, cost, and delivery issues impacting manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and productive manufacturing environment.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2-5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in an electro-mechanical, capital equipment, semiconductor, or high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical systems in a production setting.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly methods, and production support activities.
  • Experience creating and maintaining manufacturing documentation, work instructions, procedures, and process controls.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and structured problem-solving methodologies such as 5-Why, 8D, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to train and support manufacturing technicians.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with ERP systems; Epicor experience preferred.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software; Creo experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with wire bonders, die bonders, vacuum reflow ovens, semiconductor equipment, or other high-precision automation equipment preferred.
  • IPC certification or quality systems experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment

This role is based in an onsite manufacturing environment supporting the production of wire bonders and die bonders. You will frequently interact with manufacturing technicians, quality, operations, and design engineering teams. The setting is fast-paced and involves high-mix/low-volume production with hands-on troubleshooting responsibilities. The position combines manufacturing floor support with desk-based engineering documentation and process improvement work.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlsbad, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $52.88/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
