Job Title: Material Handler BJob Description

The Material Handler B supports an electronics manufacturing environment by receiving, inspecting, labeling, storing, issuing, and moving materials to ensure smooth production and accurate inventory control. This role maintains precise material transactions in ERP and inventory systems, supports shipping, kitting, cycle counts, and audit readiness, and collaborates closely with Purchasing, Planning, Production, Quality, and Finance to ensure materials are available, traceable, and handled in compliance with company procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, and other shipping documentation.
  • Record receipts, transfers, issues, and other material transactions accurately in ERP, property, or inventory systems.
  • Label, identify, and route materials to appropriate inspection, stockroom, warehouse, or production locations.
  • Store, issue, kit, and relocate materials in accordance with work orders, pick lists, FIFO practices, and established material control procedures.
  • Maintain stockroom and warehouse organization, part identification, material traceability, and housekeeping standards.
  • Prepare materials for shipment, delivery, return, or transfer, including required documentation for RMAs, customer deliverables, and internal moves.
  • Support cycle counts, physical inventories, and research and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by retrieving documents, reviewing transactions, and demonstrating material traceability.
  • Communicate material status, shortages, receiving issues, and transaction discrepancies to internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with Production, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, and Materials Management to support schedule execution and material flow.
  • Follow safety, security, export, and property control procedures while handling company inventory and government or customer-furnished property.
  • Support onsite warehouse, stockroom, and production operations and perform occasional off-site work as needed.
  • Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts and RF scanners, to move, store, and track materials safely and efficiently.
  • Contribute to quality control by ensuring correct labeling, identification, and handling of materials in line with company and regulatory standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall material handling and inventory control operations.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years of relevant material handling, inventory, warehouse, or stockroom experience; or an associate degree or post-secondary coursework with 0–2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience receiving, storing, issuing, or shipping materials in a manufacturing, aerospace and defense, electronics, or similarly regulated environment.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control practices, including lot or serial traceability, FIFO, cycle counting, and basic material transaction discipline.
  • Hands-on experience using ERP, warehouse, or inventory systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read and verify shipping and inventory documents and maintain accurate transaction records.
  • Ability to identify straightforward material discrepancies, escalate issues appropriately, and work under general supervision within established procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and follow-through skills to support cross-functional coordination.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work onsite and comply with applicable safety, quality, property control, and export or regulatory requirements.
  • Practical experience with forklift operation, material handling, inventory control, picking, and production support.
  • Experience using RF scanners for inventory tracking and material movement.
  • Familiarity with planning, scheduling, labeling, and basic quality control activities related to material handling.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience supporting electronics manufacturing or aerospace and defense operations.
  • Familiarity with government property controls and FAR or DFARS requirements.
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central, Navision, or similar ERP platforms.
  • Experience supporting internal or external inventory or compliance audits.
  • Working knowledge of ITAR or EAR handling requirements.
  • Reputation for reliability, attention to detail, and strong internal customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean, organized, and compliant stockroom or warehouse environment.

Work Environment

The role is based primarily in a semi climate-controlled, clean warehouse environment that supports electronics manufacturing operations. You will work mainly at the Sterling location, with flexibility to assist at nearby facilities in Chantilly and Fairfax as needed. The workspace emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and adherence to safety, quality, export, and property control procedures. You will regularly use material handling equipment such as forklifts and RF scanners, as well as ERP and inventory systems, while working on your feet for extended periods and handling materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chantilly, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
