We are seeking a motivated and dependable entry-level General Production Worker to join a manufacturing team specializing in security and currency inks. In this role, you learn the complete ink production process, including material handling, equipment operation, mixing procedures, and quality standards. This position offers comprehensive training and a clear path to build a long-term career in manufacturing while contributing to the production of specialized inks used in critical applications.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize production tubs, containers, tools, and equipment between batches to maintain hygiene and product integrity.
  • Gather and stage raw materials according to production orders and formulas, ensuring accuracy and readiness for each batch.
  • Load materials into processing and mixing equipment following established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Assist with the manufacturing, blending, and processing of specialty security and currency inks.
  • Operate rolling equipment and safely transport tubs throughout the production process.
  • Monitor production activities to ensure quality, accuracy, and safety requirements are consistently met.
  • Record production data and complete all required documentation with precision and attention to detail.
  • Support inventory management by organizing materials, tracking usage, and identifying shortages.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Follow all company safety procedures, GMPs, and quality control standards at all times.
  • Collaborate closely with team members and supervisors to meet daily production goals and deadlines.
  • Learn all stages of the manufacturing process and actively cross-train in multiple production areas.
  • Perform general labor tasks such as loading, packaging, and inspection as needed to support production.
  • Use forklifts or other material handling equipment, when trained, to move materials and products safely.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Basic math and measurement skills for handling formulas and production data.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Reliable attendance and a consistently positive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and develop new skills in production and equipment operation.
  • Capability to perform general manufacturing, production, and machine operation tasks.
  • Comfort working in a hands-on role involving loading, packaging, inspection, and general labor.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous manufacturing, warehouse, or production experience is helpful but not required.
  • Experience with machine operation or production equipment is a plus.
  • Exposure to quality control processes and inspection activities is beneficial.
  • Forklift experience or certification is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with GMPs or similar regulated production environments is a plus.
  • Interest in building a long-term career in manufacturing and learning specialized ink production.

Work Environment

You work in a climate-controlled production facility that is generally clean but involves exposure to paint, inks, and cleaning processes, so you should be comfortable in a hands-on manufacturing setting. The operation follows strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and quality standards, with an emphasis on safety and organization. First shift runs Monday through Thursday from 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM with overtime available on Friday, and second shift runs Monday through Thursday from 2:00 PM to midnight with overtime available on Friday. You work in a structured environment with clearly defined procedures, production equipment, and tools designed for ink manufacturing and cleaning tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Springfield, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
