Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Mechanic & Lube Technician to maintain our multi-million dollar fleet of heavy equipment and specialized vehicles. The primary focus of this role is to ensure the maximum uptime and safe operation of our equipment through meticulous preventative maintenance, fluid management, and mechanical repairs. The ideal candidate will take pride in their craft, ensuring that our fleet—which includes advanced Komatsu iMC machines and specialized hauling trucks—remains in peak condition to meet our rigorous project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on heavy construction equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders) and fleet trucks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication of moving parts.
  • Fluid Management: Monitor, test, and replenish all essential fluids (hydraulic, coolant, transmission, and fuel) to ensure peak performance and prevent premature wear.
  • Mechanical Repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues as they arise in the field or the shop to minimize downtime.
  • Equipment Inspections: Conduct thorough daily and weekly safety and performance inspections of all machinery to identify potential issues before they lead to failure.
  • Documentation: Meticulously record all maintenance activities, parts used, and fluid levels in our fleet management system to ensure accurate service histories.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA and company safety protocols, ensuring a clean and hazard-free work environment while utilizing all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Field Support: Travel to various job sites across Northern Nevada to provide mobile lube services and minor emergency repairs as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in diesel or heavy equipment mechanics preferred.
  • Proven experience as a lube technician or mechanic, specifically with heavy earthmoving equipment.
  • Familiarity with major equipment brands (e.g., Komatsu, Cat) and specialized digital technology like TopCon or iMC systems is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and hydraulic/electrical schematics.
  • Strong physical stamina and the ability to work in varying weather conditions typical of the Northern Nevada high desert.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record; CDL preferred to operate service trucks.

Work Environment

  • Active construction sites in varying weather conditions
  • Frequent travel between jobsites
  • Physically active role requiring walking, climbing, and site inspections
  • Early mornings and occasional extended hours depending on project needs
