Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) provides professional, patient-centered care to a group of patients. The RN is accountable for safe, effective, and evidence-based care delivery, with emphasis on quality outcomes, patient and family satisfaction, and continuous improvement. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff, mentors new team members, and contributes to unit-based quality and safety initiatives. This role requires adherence to the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care and compliance with regulatory standards and Practice Governance.

Key Responsibilities:

· Conducts comprehensive patient assessments and reassessments per policy and clinical condition; makes independent, timely clinical decisions.

· Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

· Monitors and documents patient response to clinical interventions; adjusts care as needed.

· Provides patient and family education tailored to care needs, treatment plans, and discharge preparation.

· Delegates tasks appropriately to licensed practical nurses (LPNs), certified nursing assistants (CNAs), and other support staff.

· Acts as a preceptor and mentor to new staff and students; fosters teamwork and collaborative practice.

· Identifies and reports opportunities for quality and process improvement; participates in unit-based initiatives and safety programs.

· Maintains compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and accreditation requirements.

Required Qualifications:

· Two (2) years of acute care nursing experience.

· Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN) or Nursing Diploma.

· Current, active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the State of Kentucky.

· BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

· ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.

· NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
