Practical Skills Clinic, a therapy clinic serving children with autism in Danbury, Connecticut, is seeking a dependable and highly self-directed individual to keep our clinic clean, organized, and ready for our students and staff.

This position involves more than routine cleaning. Our students actively use the clinic throughout the day, and toys and learning materials are sometimes emptied, mixed together, or moved between rooms. An important part of this role is restoring materials to their designated locations and maintaining organized, functional spaces.

Position Details

  • Schedule: Approximately 15–20 hours per week

  • Pay: $20 per hour

  • Classification: Part-time, hourly, non-exempt employee

  • Location: Practical Skills Clinic in Danbury, Connecticut

  • Weekday availability: Flexible weekday hours, with shifts completed by 4:00 p.m. when the children leave

  • Weekend availability: Required for designated cleaning and organization shifts when the clinic is unoccupied

  • Paid sick leave: Accrued in accordance with Connecticut law and PSC policy

Primary Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, play areas, offices, bathrooms, and shared spaces
  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, empty trash, and clean frequently touched surfaces
  • Complete deep-cleaning tasks consistently and thoroughly
  • Organize toys, learning materials, art supplies, and other clinic items
  • Sort mixed or misplaced toys and return materials to their designated locations
  • Maintain organized storage areas, cabinets, shelves, and supply closets
  • Monitor cleaning and household supplies and notify management when items need to be reordered
  • Identify cleaning and organizational needs without waiting for specific instructions
  • Complete assigned and independently identified tasks without repeated follow-up or oversight
  • Help ensure the clinic remains clean, safe, welcoming, and ready for children and staff
The Ideal Candidate
  • Has professional or substantial personal cleaning and organizing experience
  • Understands the difference between surface-level cleaning and thorough, deep cleaning
  • Is reliable, efficient, detail-oriented, and consistent
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision
  • Notices what needs to be done and takes initiative to complete it
  • Is comfortable sorting and organizing a large number of toys and children’s materials
  • Can follow established organizational systems and consistently return items to their proper locations
  • Is comfortable working in a clinic that serves children with autism
  • Can maintain confidentiality, appropriate professional boundaries, and respectful conduct in a clinical environment
  • Is comfortable working both while children and staff are present and independently when the clinic is unoccupied
Position Requirements
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and complete required employment-eligibility verification
  • Must successfully complete all background checks and onboarding requirements applicable to individuals working in a children’s clinical setting
  • Must be able to safely use customary cleaning products and equipment
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and regularly bend, reach, kneel, and remain active for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be available for agreed-upon weekday and weekend shifts
