Position Summary
The Benefits Manager, under the direction of the Senior Benefits Manager, administers and supports the Firm's employee and partner benefit programs, wellness initiatives, leave programs, and benefits budget. The role serves as a key resource for employees, providing guidance on benefit plans, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, managing benefits communications and open enrollment, overseeing leave administration, and partnering with brokers and vendors to deliver competitive and cost-effective benefits programs.
In addition to the key responsibilities outlined below, the Benefits Manager will actively support a variety of Human Resources initiatives, projects, programs, events, and operational needs. The role is expected to work collaboratively across the HR function and provide support on department priorities as directed by the Office HR Manager and Senior Benefits Manager. Responsibilities may be added, modified, or reassigned to meet evolving business and organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and administration of employee and partner benefit programs, policies and procedures, ensuring programs remain competitive and aligned with organizational objectives.
- Analyze current benefit offerings, benchmark against comparable organizations, and recommend enhancements or changes as appropriate.
- Serve as a primary resource for employees regarding benefit plans, enrollment, eligibility, and benefits-related issues.
- Conducting benefits orientation and enrollment support for new hires.
- Managing COBRA administration and compliance.
- Coordinate and administer Parental Leave, Disability Leave, and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other leave related programs.
- Oversee the Firm's wellness program and employee well-being initiatives.
- Assist with benefits budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and monitoring program expenditures to support effective financial management of benefit programs.
- Organize, manage and administer the Open Enrollment process.
- Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure effective program delivery, regulatory compliance, and a positive employee experience.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all required benefits-related reporting, filings, and disclosures.
- Review summary plan descriptions, plan documents, employee communications, and related materials to ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency
Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of progressive experience working in a Human Resources department with special focus on benefits and leave management.
- Experience in a similarly sized, multi-office professional services organization or law firm is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads
- Ability to present ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly language
- Effective organizational skills
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Office with proficiency in HRIS
- Confidentiality and diplomacy
Education:
- A 4-year college degree is required, preferably in Business or Human Resources, from an accredited college or university
This is a hybrid role, and the salary ranges for this position vary depending on the geographic location and other factors such as experience, internal equity, market data, and job-related considerations. The compensation for this position is $115,000 - $140,000, with offers contingent upon the various factors. The firm’s compensation strategy includes not just a base salary but also comprehensive benefits such as healthcare, paid time off, discretionary merit bonuses, life and disability insurance, retirement plans and tailored learning opportunities.
