Medical Billing & Collections Specialist (Hybrid) — Glendale, AZ
Pay Rate: $23.00/hr
Position Type: Contract-to-Hire (13 weeks initial)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (No on-call / no weekends)
Location: Glendale, AZ (Hybrid) — first 2 weeks on-site, then 2 days in office / 3 days work-from-home (you can choose your WFH days)

Overview
We’re hiring a Medical Billing & Collections Specialist to support a high-volume healthcare billing environment. This role focuses on billing, payment application/reconciliation, and collections follow-up while maintaining strong customer service and clear documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate and review invoices; apply and reconcile payments
- Manage past-due balances and perform collection follow-up
- Research unapplied/misapplied payments and resolve discrepancies
- Work AR aging reports and prioritize accounts for follow-up
- Investigate short-pays, disputes, denials, and related claim issues
- Respond to customer inquiries via phone/email/chat and coordinate with internal teams
- Maintain thorough, accurate notes and documentation on accounts
Required Qualifications
- Medical billing and collections experience
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes and basic accounting concepts (debits/credits)
- Experience working AR aging reports and prioritizing collections activity
- Strong reconciliation skills and attention to detail (high-volume environment)
- Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP), Outlook/Teams
- Professional written/verbal communication and customer service skills
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Experience with billing platforms such as Waystar, Instamed, Availity, WellSky, or similar EHR/EMR/billing systems
- Home Health billing experience
- Familiarity with EOBs/denials and basic contract language (LOA/SCA)
