Parts Counter Associate

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, customer-focused Parts Counter Associate to join our automotive parts team. This position is responsible for assisting retail customers, service technicians, and other dealership personnel with identifying, locating, and purchasing the correct automotive parts and accessories.

The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and committed to providing excellent customer service. Automotive parts experience is preferred, but candidates with strong customer service, sales, or automotive experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist customers and service technicians with identifying and locating the correct parts and accessories.
• Provide friendly, knowledgeable service at the parts counter and over the phone.
• Use electronic parts catalogs and dealership systems to research part numbers, availability, and pricing.
• Process parts sales, invoices, special orders, and returns accurately.
• Pull and distribute parts for technicians and service department repair orders.
• Maintain communication with customers regarding special-order parts and availability.
• Receive, inspect, organize, and stock incoming parts shipments as needed.
• Help maintain accurate inventory and report discrepancies.
• Keep the parts counter, storage areas, and displays clean and organized.
• Recommend appropriate parts, accessories, and related products based on customer needs.
• Work closely with the service and sales departments to support efficient dealership operations.
• Follow established procedures for handling parts, inventory, payments, and customer transactions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous automotive parts, dealership, retail, or customer service experience is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of automotive parts and vehicle systems is a plus.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to learn and navigate electronic parts catalogs and dealership software.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Comfortable working with computers, phones, and point-of-sale systems.
• Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record may be required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, reach, and move throughout the parts department.
• Ability to safely lift and carry automotive parts and packages as required.
