Child Life Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child Life Specialist to support pediatric patients and their families throughout their healthcare experience.

The Child Life Specialist helps children and adolescents cope with medical care and treatment through therapeutic play, preparation, education, and self-expression activities. This role focuses on creating a supportive, healing environment that reduces stress, promotes understanding, and addresses the developmental and psychosocial needs of pediatric patients.

Job Description

• Provides and promotes effective coping through play, preparation, education, and self-expression activities for pediatric patients receiving medical care and treatment.
• Meets and assesses patients within 24 hours of admission or consult.
• Formulates and implements a collaborative psychosocial care plan aligning with the medical needs and developmental level of each patient.
• Creates a therapeutic and healing environment for youth and families, focusing on decreasing stress and increasing knowledge in the healthcare setting.
• Participates in child life special events.
• Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards.

Critical Information

• Shift: M-F, hours range between 6:30am-6:00pm; shifts will vary by coverage area.
• Onsite presence is required; telecommute position is not available.

Education/Licenses Needed

• Bachelor's Degree in Child Life, Child Development, or related field.
• CCLS - Certified Child Life Specialist required; certification from the Child Life Certifying Committee (CLCC).
