Manufacturing Engineer / Production Manager
Job Description
GSC Power-Division – North Charleston, SC
Full-Time | On-Site
Salary: $90,000–$115,000 + Performance Bonus
Build the Best.
GSC Power-Division engineers and manufactures some of the highest-quality performance camshafts and valvetrain components in the world. Our products are used in championship-winning race cars and high-performance street cars across the globe.
We're looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer / Production Manager who can bridge the gap between engineering and production.
This is not a desk engineering position or a traditional production management role. We're looking for someone who can personally program CNC equipment, develop and improve machining processes, create production drawings, solve problems on the shop floor, support and train operators, and help lead daily production.
Our manufacturing environment includes CNC multitasking turning centers with automated part handling, high-speed CBN camshaft grinding, CNC turning, milling and grinding, and advanced inspection and metrology equipment.
What You'll Do
- Program and optimize CNC equipment, particularly CNC turning and multitasking machines.
- Develop new machining processes and improve existing ones.
- Create and modify production drawings using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Develop tooling, workholding, setups, speeds/feeds and machining strategies.
- Improve cycle time, tool life, quality and process capability.
- Troubleshoot CNC programs, tooling, setups and production issues.
- Take new products from engineering through a stable production process.
- Create setup sheets, work instructions and production documentation.
- Train and support CNC operators.
- Help manage daily production priorities and workflow.
- Coordinate machine maintenance and outside service when needed.
- Identify opportunities for automation and unattended machining.
- Help expand our use of machine monitoring, manufacturing data and AI-assisted tools to improve tooling, maintenance and production decisions.
What We're Looking For
- Strong hands-on CNC programming experience, particularly CNC turning.
- SolidWorks or equivalent CAD experience with the ability to create and modify production drawings.
- Strong knowledge of cutting tools, workholding, speeds/feeds and machining processes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
- Experience developing machining processes from print through production.
- CNC setup and troubleshooting experience.
- Strong mechanical problem-solving ability.
- Experience in precision machining or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Some experience leading operators, projects or production activities.
- A hands-on attitude and willingness to personally solve problems rather than simply delegate them.
Experience with multitasking CNC machines, CAM programming, CNC grinding, automation, unattended machining, fixture design, PLCs, machine monitoring, OEE, predictive maintenance, Python or manufacturing data analysis is a plus.
A college degree is not required. Proven technical ability, manufacturing experience, initiative, leadership and a strong work ethic matter more to us than a degree.
Why GSC?
For more than 20 years, GSC Power-Division has built a reputation for producing some of the highest-quality performance camshafts and valvetrain components in the aftermarket automotive industry.
We're already a leader in our market, and we're continually investing in better equipment, processes, automation and technology. We're looking for someone who takes pride in maintaining that standard while constantly asking: How can we make this better?
If you're a manufacturing engineer, CNC programmer, process engineer or experienced machinist who's ready to take on more production leadership—and you want the opportunity to directly influence how a modern manufacturing operation runs—we'd like to hear from you.
Compensation: $90,000–$115,000 based on experience and technical capability, plus performance bonus. Benefits include PTO, health benefits and retirement plan.
