Senior Construction Estimator / Lead Estimator (Public Sector)

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the full estimating process from initial review through bid submission
• Prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates for public and private projects
• Manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Perform and/or oversee quantity takeoffs for all trades (including MEP)
• Solicit, qualify, and level subcontractor and supplier bids
• Develop scopes of work and bid packages
• Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies
• Maintain and expand subcontractor and vendor relationships
• Participate in post-bid interviews and negotiations
• Support project team during turnover and pre-construction phase

Qualifications:

• 8–10+ years experience in construction estimating (NYC required)
• Strong experience with public sector projects (SCA, DDC, DASNY, NYCHA, etc.)
• Proven track record of successfully winning bids
• Deep understanding of commercial and institutional construction
• Experience with lump sum, GMP, and negotiated work
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems and pricing
• Ability to lead and mentor junior estimators (if applicable)
• Advanced proficiency in estimating tools (Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, etc.) and Excel
• Strong subcontractor network in NYC
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
• Compensation:
• Salary starting at $175,000 + bonus
