Scientist/Laboratory Project Leader
Job Description
We are seeking a Scientist/Laboratory Project Leader to join our team!
Responsibilities:
- Complete microbiological tests, shelf studies, and commercial sterility tests utilizing an aseptic technique and maintaining documentation to support ongoing projects
- Plate pouring, aseptic technique, media preparation, and population determination of biological indicators.
- Prepare various food samples for chemical and biological analysis using good aseptic technique
- Perform media preparation/sterilization and utilize an aseptic technique during sample preparation.
- Maintaining logs and record books; troubleshooting and resolving problems and helping with special projects.
- Write client reports by interrupting scientific data. Send reports to clients and review the data with the clients.
- Keeps laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data and selecting corrective steps.
- Completes projects by assisting the project team and attending and participating in group and project meetings.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
- Enhances laboratory and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Be able to engage with customers about laboratory activities
- Having the ability to work independently and work with a team depending on the situation during a workday.
- Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a lab technician or in other related fields
- Familiarity with common lab terminology
- Experience in a laboratory setting
- Strong organizational skills
- Customer service experience is preferred
- To interpret collected data, use key math calculations
Education:
Bachelor's degree in:
- Food Science
- Biology
- Microbiology
- Related scientific field
