Senior ITS Technician
Job Description
Summary:
The Sr ITS Technician supports the Intelligent Transportation Systems by configuring, deploying/installing, monitoring, and maintaining systems, troubleshooting system issues, tracking trends, and testing equipment and applications. This position also requires technicians to be on a rotating on-call schedule, work overtime when necessary, and be available for emergency call-outs during off hours, non-scheduled weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Supports and maintains ITS systems and equipment by troubleshooting problems, and equipment failures, replacing defective parts, upgrading, installing software/firmware updates on various devices, maintaining gate controllers, and troubleshooting data network.
- Uses their knowledge of color-coded cable to Complete cabling and wiring of cabinets and gantry buildings.
- Documents work through the ticketing system and responding to emails and phone calls to calls to support SOC.
- Performs preventive and proactive maintenance on ITS equipment, according to manufacturer’s guidelines by inspecting, testing, and servicing the equipment to ensure proper system operations and reduce downtime.
- Terminate various cables and connections such as Cat-5, Cat-6, Coax, Camera cable, and unique wire specific to certain devices.
- Provide updates using Microsoft Office Applications such as Word and Excel.
- Interfaces equipment to hardware, configures IP-based equipment, and runs commands with the ability to understand Linux OS.
- Tests equipment for production deployment and works with the analytics team to implement devices into the system and resolve issues.
- Installation of Wavetronix Antennas, CCTV cameras and mounts, deployment of UPS batteries in weights of 75 lbs and more, transport ITS cabinets, and cable spools.
- Performs arial work of up to 100ft with the assistance of a bucket truck
- Installs new ITS equipment on roadway structures during and after construction phases of projects which will involve constant bending, the use of mechanical tools, and lengthy periods of standing.
- Performs advanced troubleshooting on equipment and provides a deeper analysis of issues.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
· Associates degree or equivalent
· At least 2 years and up to and including 3 years of technical experience.
· Valid Driver’s license.
· Possess a Class “B” CDL or ability to obtain within 2 years.
· Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite Application, and strong communication and collaboration skills.
· Ability to meet physical job requirements, including lifting, carrying, climbing, balancing, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling objects of various weights, as well as the ability to conduct aerial work for extended period of time.
Preferred:
· Linux Certification
· Axis Certification or Equivalent in camera technology
