Job Description
Essential Job Functions: Performs pharmacy functions in an efficient, accurate, and friendly manner. Assures the validity of each prescription and questions any prescription which in the pharmacist’s judgment is incorrect or fraudulent. Checks each prescription for proper contents, complete label and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Is accessible for consultation with patients on health related matters. Advise patients of the proper use of prescription and non-prescription products. Removes and excludes products from the pharmacy which are defective, recalled, adulterated, or misbranded. Presents a professional image to the patient. This shall include appropriate attire, personal grooming, display of professional licenses, and an orderly appearance and operation of the Pharmacy Department. Complies with all Federal and State laws, which pertain to the practice of pharmacy. Maintains a comprehensive pharmaceutical reference library. Consults with physicians on the proper use of drug products. Supervises all personnel within the Pharmacy Department. Is responsible for the purchasing of all prescription pharmaceuticals based on guidelines for quality of merchandise and inventory control, as prescribed by the Director of Pharmacy. Is responsible for the completion and submission of reports, as required by the Director of Pharmacy. Is responsible for working with the store manager and other designated personnel to achieve the most profitable merchandising and purchasing of over-the-counter health and beauty aids. Will have power of attorney to sign for all narcotic orders. Demonstrate the ability and desire to promote, communicate and implement company initiatives and process improvements to direct reports in a positive manner. Ability to perform Clinical Care programs. Performs all duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
Minimum Position Qualifications: Must be licensed by the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy and complies with all Federal and State laws which pertain to the practice of Pharmacy. Must be Immunization Certified Effective written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to make intelligent decisions quickly Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers. Desired Previous Job Experience: Past work record reflects dependability and integrity. Physical Demands: Standing & Walking – Frequent standing & walking. Estimated total time 8 hrs. Maximum continuous time up to 8 hrs. Sitting – No work activities require sitting. Lifting & Carrying – Max weight 25 lbs., average weight less than 5 lbs., distance carried up to 15 feet. Must frequently lift items under 10 lbs. and items between 11-25lbs., and rarely lift 26- 100 lbs. Climbing – Frequently climbing plastic two-step stool. Other – This position also requires frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling, as well as constant use of either arm or both for reaching in all directions. Other requirements include twisting, neck flexion/extension, cervical rotation, frequent forearm movement, and frequent or sustained awkward wrist positions. Work Conditions – Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, and sudden changes in temperature.
