Construction Safety Manager

Position Summary
Texarkana, Texas based heavy construction contractor is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of workplace safety across our construction projects. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety best practices, and risk management. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs that protect employees, subcontractors, clients, and the public while ensuring regulatory compliance. Our projects span Texas and its neighboring states, so travel is frequently required, typically 3-4 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and audits.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, Federal, and State safety regulations.
- Lead safety orientations for new employees and subcontractors.
- Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing training programs.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce safety standards.
- Assist with preconstruction planning by identifying potential hazards and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Track safety metrics and prepare reports for senior management.
- Promote a strong safety culture through leadership, coaching, and employee engagement.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of construction safety management experience.
- OSHA-10 certification and knowledge of OSHA regulations is required; knowledge of MSHA regulations a plus.
- Experience working on commercial, industrial, heavy civil, or infrastructure construction projects.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and use of PC.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel 3-4 days per week as required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk active construction sites over uneven terrain.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
