Billing Specialist

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, 1-hour lunch
Duration: Through the end of 2026.
Location: Onsite

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist I to join our accounting team on a temporary basis. This role will support billing and payment processing while working closely with outside vendors. The ideal candidate will have accounting and AP/AR experience, strong Excel skills, and excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process invoices and payments accurately and efficiently.
• Handle a high volume of billing and accounting transactions.
• Communicate with outside vendors by phone and email regarding invoices, payments, and account questions.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors who support vehicle transportation services.
• Work across multiple systems, including Sage and FMS.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies and account issues.
• Assist with accounting cleanup and other departmental projects as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Provide professional and respectful service to vendors and internal departments.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of general accounting and AP/AR experience.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience with an accounting system such as Sage, QuickBooks, or similar.
• Sage experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong customer service and professional phone skills.
• Comfortable learning and working in multiple systems simultaneously.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Additional Details

• The team is currently working through a significant accounting cleanup following the implementation of two new systems.
• Employees are expected to work toward processing approximately 50+ payments per day as they become fully trained.
• Some overtime may be available during the initial cleanup period.
