We are seeking an experienced Professional Land Surveyor licensed in California to lead and oversee both field and office surveying operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of California surveying laws, land development requirements, and Southern California jurisdictional regulations.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing subordinate office staff and field crews in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.
  • Ensuring project milestones and goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
  • Preparing proposals and estimates.
  • Maintaining schedules and budgets.
  • Reviewing invoices.
  • Organizing and scheduling field crews for various survey tasks.
  • Serving as point of contact for current and new clients.
  • Providing technical support to office staff and field crews regarding methodology, software, and survey instruments.
  • Providing technical support to design teams for all survey/mapping related inquiries.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ensuring quality control and quality assurance of work products and deliverables.


Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of the Subdivision Map Act, Professional Land Surveyors’ Act, and Public Land Survey System (PLSS).
  • Extensive experience with ALTA/NSPS surveys, boundary and topographic surveys, construction staking, utility surveys, and easement surveys.
  • Proficiency in preparing tract maps, parcel maps, records of survey, legal descriptions, exhibits, condominium plans, and air-space subdivisions.
  • Strong understanding of Southern California county and city mapping requirements and regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with modern surveying technologies, including robotic total stations, GPS/GNSS, and LiDAR.
  • Experience with GPS/GNSS post-processing, error analysis, least-squares network adjustments, compass rule adjustments, and boundary resolution.
  • Ability to perform quality control, review survey data, resolve complex boundary issues, and ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Capable of independently performing and overseeing both field and office surveying activities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while coordinating with clients, engineers, contractors, municipalities, and internal teams.
  • Minimum 15 years of professional surveying experience, including substantial field and office experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing projects, clients, and survey teams.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Must hold an active California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license.
