Travel: Regular local travel to Family Child Care provider homes throughout the assigned NYC service area

Position Overview

B’Above Worldwide Institute, in partnership with New York City Public Schools, is seeking a dependable, organized, and knowledgeable Bilingual Spanish FCCN Health/Safety/Nutrition Monitoring Specialist to join our Family Child Care Network team.

The Monitoring Specialist supports approximately 25–30 Family Child Care providers with health, safety, nutrition, regulatory compliance, documentation, corrective action, and ongoing technical assistance.

This is a field based position that requires regular travel to Family Child Care provider homes. The Monitoring Specialist is responsible for completing monthly monitoring visits and supporting providers in meeting New York City Public Schools, DOHMH, OCFS, CACFP, and Network requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Provider Monitoring and Compliance

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 25–30 affiliated Family Child Care providers.
  • Conduct monthly monitoring visits to assigned Family Child Care provider homes.
  • Complete required NYC Public Schools, Network, health, safety, nutrition, and CACFP monitoring forms.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable DOHMH, OCFS, CACFP, NYC Public Schools, and Network requirements.
  • Review health and safety practices, nutrition and meal service, supervision, required records, learning environments, and other program requirements.
  • Review provider licensing and compliance information as required.
  • Stay current on OCFS communications, including Dear Provider letters, licensing updates, and other regulatory guidance.

Coaching and Corrective Action

  • Provide respectful, strength based coaching and technical assistance during and following monitoring visits.
  • Recognize and build upon provider strengths while identifying areas requiring additional support or correction.
  • Identify health, safety, nutrition, or compliance concerns and clearly communicate required corrective actions.
  • Follow up with providers to ensure corrective actions are completed within required timelines.
  • Support providers in maintaining safe, healthy, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environments for infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
  • Provide guidance and resources related to health, safety, nutrition, supervision, and regulatory requirements.

Documentation and Administrative Responsibilities

  • Document monitoring visits, provider communication, corrective actions, and follow up accurately and within required timelines.
  • Maintain documentation aligned with the Early Childhood Framework for Quality (EFQ) and Network requirements.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records for assigned providers.
  • Update required provider information within Network databases and electronic systems.
  • Assist with provider recruitment, affiliation, onboarding, outreach, and other administrative responsibilities as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of provider, child, and family information.

Team Collaboration and Network Support

  • Collaborate with Education Specialists, Family Workers, Network leadership, and other team members to coordinate provider support.
  • Participate in regular Network staff meetings.
  • Participate in required professional development and NYC Public Schools professional learning.
  • Assist with provider workshops, trainings, meetings, special events, and other Network activities.
  • Support the mission, vision, policies, and procedures of B’Above Worldwide Institute.
  • Complete other related responsibilities as assigned by the Network Director.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential required.
  • Training or experience in health, safety, and nutrition required.
  • Experience working in Family Child Care, early childhood education, or with infants and toddlers preferred.
  • Knowledge of OCFS, DOHMH, CACFP, NYC Public Schools, or other early childhood regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Experience conducting monitoring, compliance, quality assurance, or early childhood program visits is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to independently manage a caseload of 25–30 Family Child Care providers.
  • Strong observation, communication, relationship building, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to identify compliance concerns and provide clear, respectful guidance and follow up.
  • Ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and meet required deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn required databases and electronic documentation systems.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while also functioning as part of a collaborative team.
  • Must be willing and able to travel regularly to Family Child Care provider homes throughout the assigned New York City service area.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

Background Clearance Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing and maintaining all required New York City Public Schools/DOE and DOHMH background checks, fingerprinting, clearances, and other required screenings.
