Job Description
Position Title: Building/ Facilities Manager
Reports To: Vicar General / Moderator of the Curia
FLSA Status: Regular, Full-time, Exempt (37.5 hours per week)
A Building Services Manager oversees the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the Chancery building systems and day-to-day services, making sure the facility is safe, efficient, and comfortable for occupants. The person in this role performs skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance and repairs and requires a working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing and minor electrical work; is responsible for general upkeep of the Chancery and grounds; printing and mailroom duties, performing related work as required.
Essential Job Functions
· Ensures buildings and grounds are maintained in a manner that provides a healthy, safe and attractive physical environment.
· Ensures the janitorial service is cleaning and maintaining each floor of the building and that each level is dusted, vacuumed including elevators, waste baskets emptied, bathrooms are thoroughly cleaned, and pantry is clean.
· Performs basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other minor repair work on the facilities when needed.
· Performs minor construction, basic mechanical maintenance and implements preventative maintenance schedules on buildings and equipment.
· Paints and repairs walls, repairs various types of furniture, doors, windows, floors, gates, roofs and ceilings.
· Researches, orders, and stores supplies needed for basic maintenance and repairs.
· Picks up supplies and parts from vendors as needed.
· Researches and obtains bids for special projects as directed by supervisor or as needed.
· Maintains a list of vendors as needed for contracted services for HVAC maintenance, pest control, elevators service and repair, assures work is done to specifications.
· Prepares multipurpose room and conference rooms set up for special meetings and events.
· Manages the shipping, receiving and delivery of mail and packages throughout the building.
· Supervises the reception staff and ensures welcoming and professional customer service is provided on the phone or at the reception desk.
· Participates as a member of the building safety committee by attending meetings, providing current building and safety inspections reports, offers recommendations for remediation of safety risks, assists Director of Safety in leading monthly and quarterly safety drills.
· Performs any other job-related duties as directed by the supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
· Working knowledge of standard tools, materials, methods and practices involved in building and grounds maintenance and repair, including, but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and painting.
· Working knowledge of building codes.
· Working knowledge of safe work practices.
· Ability to supervise and train other staff.
· Ability to provide own transportation for job-related responsibilities.
· Ability to be available for emergencies as needed.
· Ability to maintain a cooperative attitude and effective working relationship with our religious, employees, volunteers and vendors.
Qualifications:
· BA/BS preferred but can be substituted with trade school or direct facilities management experience.
· A minimum of five years of direct experience in facilities management, preferably in a non-profit organization.
· Two years of increasingly responsible management/supervisory experience in the area of maintenance, operations, and facilities.
· Minimum of three years experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of facilities equipment with a thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, emergency generation and distribution and life safety systems.
· Computer literacy in Window's based software environment.
· A valid California driver's license.
· Willingness to obtain required certifications for facilities and grounds activities.
· Required to satisfactorily complete and obtain appropriate certifications and or licenses i.e. (Cal OSHA certificates, Hazmat, IPM, Qualified Applicator, Back-Flow Preventer, etc.) in areas as required
Pay Range:
$75,000-$110,000 annually
