Machine Operator (Braider)
Job Description
Job Summary
We are hiring Braider Operators to operate and monitor NEB, OMA, and TMW braiding machines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for machine setup, maintaining product quality, inspecting materials, recording production data, and ensuring safe and efficient operations. Production experience is preferred, but paid on-the-job training is provided for motivated candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate NEB, OMA, and TMW braiding machines according to manufacturing specifications.
- Pull tooling and raw materials required for production.
- Inspect tooling and track material usage using production logs and company systems.
- Load and unload carriers, bobbins, springs, braid rings, tube guides, and other machine components.
- Measure and record product dimensions using calipers, micrometers, pi tape, and other measuring tools.
- Monitor product quality and identify defects throughout the production process.
- Run braided hose through the wash tank and prepare finished products for inspection.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area while following Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles.
- Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.
- Report equipment or production issues to the Team Lead.
- Perform additional production duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Manufacturing or production experience preferred but not required.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment screening.
Preferred Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and manufacturing specifications.
- Experience using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and pi tape.
- Good math, reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to monitor machine performance and maintain high product quality.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Physical Requirements
The role requires extended standing and walking throughout the shift, along with frequent pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, reaching, squatting, and lifting materials up to 30 lbs. Candidates must be comfortable working around production machinery in a manufacturing environment.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced manufacturing facility.
- High noise levels from production equipment.
- Steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection required.
- Extended standing and mandatory overtime required as needed.
