Field & Shop Operator
Job Description
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
At Symmtrex, we don't just hand you a task list and send you out the door. We're building something here, and we need people who get that. If you're the kind of person who shows up ready to work, takes ownership of every job, and holds yourself to a standard that most people wouldn't even bother with -- keep reading.
You're Wired to Move
You don't need a rigid routine to feel settled. One day you might be running production in the shop, the next you're on a jobsite. You handle that shift without missing a beat. You thrive when things keep moving and you can tell people you've done a little bit of everything.
You Have a Standard
Not just any standard. A high one. You're the person who stops mid-task because something is slightly off and fixes it before it becomes a problem. You'd rather take an extra hour and do it right than send out something you're not proud of. Subpar work isn't something you're capable of letting slide.
You Represent Wherever You Go
Whether you're on a homeowner's property or at a commercial jobsite next to a general contractor, you understand that every interaction matters. You carry yourself professionally. You know that a five-star experience isn't just about the finished product -- it's about how the customer felt the entire time you were there.
You've Been Around Construction or Manufacturing
You're not starting from scratch. You've worked in a trade, a shop, or a field environment before. You know how to read a situation, troubleshoot when something doesn't go as planned, and get creative when you need to without cutting corners.
You're Thinking Long-Term
You see this as more than a job. Symmtrex is a growing startup with multiple service lines and a lot of runway ahead. The right person here isn't just filling a role -- they're positioning themselves to grow alongside the company. If you want to look back in a few years and say you were part of building something from the ground up, this is your shot.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
This role covers ground across multiple service lines. No two weeks look exactly the same, and that's the point. Responsibilities include:
In the Shop
- Assist with light gauge steel panel and truss manufacturing
- Operate and maintain shop equipment safely and properly
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace
- Perform quality checks and flag anything that doesn't meet standard
In the Field
- Support spray foam insulation crews on residential and commercial projects
- Assist with concrete lifting and leveling operations
- Help with jobsite setup, breakdown, and material handling
- Interact professionally with customers, homeowners, and general contractors on every visit
Day to Day
- Follow direction from your foreman and execute tasks with minimal supervision once trained
- Communicate clearly when problems arise -- don't hide issues, solve them
- Take care of equipment and tools like they're your own
- Adapt quickly as priorities shift across service lines
WHAT WE'RE NOT LOOKING FOR
Clock-watchers. People who do the bare minimum and call it done. Anyone who thinks customer service is someone else's job. If that's you, this role isn't the right fit and that's okay.
WHAT YOU'LL GET
- A front-row seat to a company building something real across multiple trades
- Real opportunity to grow into leadership as Symmtrex expands
- A team that works hard and respects the people doing the work
- Competitive pay based on experience
Application Question(s):
- Can you lift 50lbs repetitively ?
- Can you read a tape measurer to 1/16"?
- Are you willing to complete a 90 day probationary period?
- Are you able to stand, walk, bend, and work on your feet for an 8- hour shift?
