Sanitation Worker
Job Description
The Sanitation worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary warehouse environment in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), food safety standards (if applicable), OSHA regulations, and company policies. This role ensures all warehouse areas, equipment, and common spaces are cleaned and sanitized to support safe operations and regulatory compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize warehouse floors, racks, equipment, workstations, and storage areas according to established SOPs.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation tasks following documented cleaning schedules.
- Safely operate cleaning equipment, including floor scrubbers, pressure washers, vacuums, and other sanitation tools.
- Dispose of trash, recyclables, and waste materials in accordance with company procedures.
- Restock sanitation supplies, cleaning chemicals, paper products, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Inspect work areas for cleanliness and report maintenance or safety concerns to management.
- Follow proper chemical handling, storage, and labeling procedures.
- Complete sanitation logs, inspection forms, and required documentation accurately and on time.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), OSHA standards, and company policies.
- Assist with warehouse organization and special cleaning projects as assigned.
- Support warehouse operations during audits and inspections.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous sanitation, janitorial, warehouse, or industrial cleaning experience preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal SOPs and work instructions.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in varying warehouse temperatures and environments.
- Ability to safely operate sanitation equipment and use required PPE.
- Frequent pushing, pulling, reaching, and repetitive motions.
Work Environment
- Warehouse setting with exposure to dust, noise, cleaning chemicals, and moving equipment.
- May require evening, overnight, weekend, or holiday shifts depending on operational needs.
- Personal Protective Equipment must be worn as required. (Safety glasses, gloves, hair net, beard net (if applicable) and respirator.)
