Restaurant Assistant Manager

Homer's Ice Cream and Restaurant has been a beloved Chicagoland institution for over 90 years and is renowned for its award-winning, super-premium ice cream. This family-owned business with a new generation of leadership is expanding its iconic brand. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has proven management experience, values integrity, and wants to help guide a team in delivering the legendary Homer's experience every day.

This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and train employees in product preparation, store appearance and customer service.
• Assist with inventory control, ordering supplies and managing food costs.
• Hold team members accountable to high service standards and company policies.
• Regularly inspect the work of the team to verify that assignments are being completed with consistency and accuracy.
• Manage a team that consistently exceeds customer expectations.
• Communicate policy variances to senior management as soon as they are discovered.
• Be open, honest and respectful with the team to improve their performance.
• Work to become the knowledge expert on all store operations.
• Be an example of excellence to fellow team members and customers.
• Ability to obtain a food service sanitation certificate within 30 days of hire.
• Follow all food safety practices.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a leadership position, directly supervising staff.
• Availability for day, evening and weekend shifts.
• Flexible and adaptable to learning new practices.
• Passion for helping others (customers and team members).
• Responds with a sense of urgency.
