Position Summary

Hobart Sales and Service is seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined Commercial Food Equipment Installer to join our team.

This position is responsible for the delivery, installation, setup, and removal of commercial food equipment at customer locations throughout Michigan.

Our installers work with a wide variety of equipment found in restaurants, schools, hospitals, grocery stores, convenience stores, commercial kitchens, and other foodservice operations.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working in the field, solving problems, working with tools, and seeing a job through from delivery to completed installation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver and install commercial food equipment at customer locations.
  • Remove and dispose of existing equipment when required.
  • Uncrate, assemble, position, level, and secure new equipment.
  • Read installation instructions, specifications, drawings, and equipment documentation.
  • Verify equipment and installation requirements before beginning work.
  • Make appropriate equipment connections within the scope of the position and applicable licensing requirements.
  • Coordinate with electricians, plumbers, HVAC contractors, general contractors, and customer personnel when required.
  • Perform basic equipment startup and verify proper operation following installation.
  • Identify installation problems and communicate issues before they become larger problems.
  • Protect customer floors, walls, counters, doors, and surrounding areas while moving and installing equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for completed installations.
  • Take photos and document site conditions when necessary.
  • Maintain company tools, installation equipment, and vehicles.
  • Keep installation vehicles and work areas organized and professional.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and other contractors on the jobsite.
  • Assist other installers and service technicians when necessary.

  • Commercial dishwashers

  • Refrigeration equipment
  • Food preparation equipment
  • Holding and warming equipment
  • Sinks and stainless-steel equipment
  • Serving equipment
  • Other commercial kitchen and foodservice equipment

Equipment can range from relatively small countertop units to large, heavy pieces of commercial equipment requiring specialized moving and installation procedures.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate:

  • Is mechanically inclined and comfortable working with tools.
  • Has experience installing, assembling, repairing, or working around mechanical equipment.
  • Is comfortable performing physical work and moving heavy equipment safely.
  • Can troubleshoot problems and adapt when jobsite conditions don't match the original plan.
