We are seeking an experienced Industrial Sandblaster to perform abrasive blasting and surface preparation on large steel and industrial components and related products. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating industrial blasting equipment, removing rust, scale, mill scale, old coatings, dirt, and other surface contaminants, and preparing metal surfaces for painting, coating, and other finishing processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate industrial abrasive blasting equipment, blast pots, hoses, nozzles, and related equipment to prepare metal surfaces.
  • Perform abrasive blasting on carbon steel and stainless steel pipe, fittings, flanges, and other steel components.
  • Remove rust, mill scale, corrosion, old paint/coatings, dirt, grease, and other surface contaminants.
  • Prepare blasted surfaces for painting, protective coatings, priming, and other finishing applications.
  • Adjust blasting pressure, abrasive flow, nozzle distance, and blasting technique according to material and surface requirements.
  • Inspect blasted surfaces to ensure proper cleanliness, profile, and overall surface condition.
  • Maintain consistent blasting quality while meeting production requirements and customer specifications.
  • Properly mask, cover, or protect areas that should not be blasted.
  • Handle and position heavy pipe, steel components, fittings, and other materials before and after blasting.
  • Assist with material staging, loading/unloading, and movement of products throughout the work area.
  • Identify surface defects, contamination, coating issues, or areas requiring additional preparation.
  • Maintain blasting equipment, hoses, nozzles, blast pots, and work areas in safe operating condition.
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of blasting equipment and work areas.
  • Follow all required OSHA, PPE, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Wear and properly use respirators, blasting helmets, protective clothing, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and other required PPE.
  • Maintain a clean and organized blasting area and properly dispose of used abrasive materials and debris.
  • Work effectively around forklifts, cranes, heavy equipment, trucks, and other industrial operations.
  • Follow verbal and written work instructions while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Work independently while also communicating effectively with supervisors and other production personnel.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and consistently meet production, quality, and safety expectations.
