Fleet Manager - Heavy Equipment and Truck Diesel

Honc Destruction is hiring a Fleet Manager to oversee mechanics, manage heavy equipment and truck maintenance, and ensure safety compliance. This role involves the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of heavy trucks and heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, skid loaders, and other heavy equipment and attachments. The ideal candidate will be reliable, highly organized, have a strong work ethic, decision making and problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. As a leader within the organization, the Fleet Manager is expected to make sound operational decisions, manage shop personnel effectively, prioritize repairs based on business needs, and maintain an organized, efficient, and compliant maintenance program.

Job Summary

• Lead and oversee the fleet shop and personnel.
• Prioritize and respond to immediate needs of operations team and drivers to maintain production and schedules.
• Direct inspection, maintenance, and repair schedules for heavy-duty trucks and demolition equipment
• Maintain fleet safety, DOT records, and operational efficiency in a fast-paced environment

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and schedule mechanic staff and daily workflow
• Oversee and participate in diagnosis and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel engine problems
• Manage preventative maintenance programs and regulatory compliance, including DOT inspections
• Track repair records, parts inventory, and maintenance budgets
• Enforce all company safety policies and shop organization standards
• Communicate fleet status with company leadership

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; technical certification or management training preferred
• Minimum 5 years of diesel mechanic experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role
• Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy equipment systems
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
• Strong leadership, record-keeping, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with brands like Kobelco, Peterbilt, Mack, and Volvo
• Welding, fabrication, or advanced diagnostic software experience\
• Knowledge and implementation of computer diagnostic equipment.
