Position Overview
Viltis is seeking an experienced Occupational Health Nurse II to support our client’s on-site occupational health program in Sylmar, California. This position is responsible for providing direct occupational health services to employees while managing workplace injury and illness cases, workers’ compensation activities, medical surveillance programs, and employee health initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a California-licensed Registered Nurse with occupational or employee health experience who is comfortable working closely with employees, managers, supervisors, Human Resources, and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site occupational health services, including first aid, treatment, and care for workplace injuries and illnesses.
- Manage employee injury and illness cases from initial evaluation through follow-up and return to work.
- Coordinate and manage workers’ compensation cases, documentation, and related processes.
- Support efforts to reduce workers’ compensation costs through effective case management, prevention programs, and return-to-work strategies.
- Administer medical surveillance programs, protocols, screenings, and required health records/logs.
- Maintain appropriate occupational health documentation while ensuring confidentiality and regulatory compliance.
- Manage medical and first-aid supplies, including inventory and replenishment.
- Coordinate applicable corporate occupational health and safety programs.
- Conduct employee training related to occupational health, safety, and emergency response.
- Participate in site teams and Emergency Response activities.
- Partner closely with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Human Resources (HR).
- Collaborate with employees, managers, and supervisors regarding workplace health concerns and appropriate work restrictions or accommodations.
- Identify opportunities to improve employee health, workplace safety, injury prevention, and case-management outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California required.
- 2–4 years of relevant nursing experience.
- Experience providing first aid, injury assessment, treatment, and employee health services.
- Strong case-management, documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with employees and leadership across multiple functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in Occupational Health, Employee Health, Industrial Health, or Workplace Health.
- Experience managing workers’ compensation cases and return-to-work programs.
- Familiarity with medical surveillance and workplace health screening programs.
- Experience partnering with EH&S and HR teams in a corporate, manufacturing, laboratory, or similar workplace environment.
- Knowledge of occupational health and workplace safety practices and applicable regulations.
