Title: Chemical Regulatory & Compliance Engineer
Location: El Segundo CA USA 90245
Duration: 6 Months
Pay rate: $35-40/HR on W2 without PTO (Paid time off).
Work authorization: US citizen/Green card/EAD

Manager’s Comment:
- Chemical Regulatory Compliance: Experience with chemical regulations and compliance requirements applicable to toys, children’s products, and consumer products is highly desired.
- Restricted Substances List (RSL): Experience maintaining and managing an RSL and evaluating products/materials against restricted substance requirements.
- Regulatory Databases & Declarations: Experience working with regulatory databases, chemical declarations, supplier compliance programs, or product stewardship initiatives is a plus.
- Experience Level: Looking for candidates with 1–3 years of relevant experience.
- Team Structure: The position will be part of a 4-person team.
- Industry Experience: Chemical regulatory compliance process knowledge within the toy, children’s products, or broader consumer products industry is highly preferred. Candidates from related industries, including chemical, medical device, pharmaceutical, or FDA-regulated environments, may also be considered.
- Testing Procedures: Experience creating or supporting chemical/product testing procedures and protocols.
- Regulatory Research: Ability to research, monitor, interpret, and summarize emerging global, federal, state, and regional laws, regulations, and standards related to chemicals and restricted substances in children’s and consumer products, including TSCA, REACH, Proposition 65, and other applicable regulations.
- Project Management: Project management skills are a plus.
- Role Focus: This is not a managerial position. The role is primarily hands-on and individual-contributor focused.
- Contract Duration: 6-month contract with possible extension.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline is required.
- Regulatory Reporting: Experience with chemical regulatory reporting and compliance related to federal and state laws.
- Material/Composition Review: Experience reviewing the chemical composition of existing and new materials, including SDS/MSDS, Bills of Substances (BOS), and other material declarations, against the RSL and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Core Skills: Excellent reading, writing, regulatory interpretation, research, analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
- Work Schedule: Hybrid – Monday through Thursday onsite and Friday remote.
- Interview Process: Onsite interview is preferred. The process will consist of 2–3 rounds, with the first round conducted virtually and the second round onsite.

The Opportunity:
- We are seeking a motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented Chemical Regulatory & Compliance Engineer to join Product Safety, Regulatory & Compliance team, reporting to the Sr. Manager of Chemical Regulations.
- This role offers a unique opportunity to support chemical regulatory compliance program and contribute to the protection of children through safe and compliant products. In this role, you will help navigate the evolving global chemical regulatory landscape and support efforts to ensure products comply with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Research, monitor, and summarize emerging global, federal, state, and regional laws, regulations, and standards related to chemicals and restricted substances in children's and consumer products (e.g., TSCA, REACH, Prop. 65, and other applicable regulations)
- Incorporate relevant regulatory requirements into internal procedures and maintain the company's Restricted Substances List (RSL).
- Review the chemical composition of existing and new materials (MSDS or Bills of Substances) against RSL and provide technical assessments and recommendations.
- Ensure chemical reporting regulatory compliance with federal and state laws.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to advance chemical management database system and improve consistency and efficiency in addressing chemical compliance and product safety matters.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline, with 2-3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong interest and/or experience in global chemical regulatory compliance and restricted substances management within the toy, children's products, or broader consumer products industry.
- Familiarity with global chemical regulations applicable to common consumer-product materials, including polymers, coatings, adhesives, inks, textiles, and packaging materials.
- Excellent research, analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated passion for protecting children and helping create safe, trusted experiences.
- Experience working with regulatory databases, chemical declarations, supplier compliance programs, or product stewardship initiatives is a plus.
