Assistant Fleet Mechanic
Job Description
Assistant Fleet Mechanic:
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Assistant Fleet Mechanic to support
the maintenance and repair of our fleet vehicles and equipment. This position
works under the direction of experienced mechanics to perform preventive
maintenance, inspections, repairs, and general shop duties. The ideal candidate
is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, eager to learn, and committed to
keeping our fleet operating safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks.
- Help diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to established schedules.
- Inspect vehicles and equipment for safety and operational concerns.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Operate shop tools and equipment safely and properly.
- Assist with roadside service calls when needed.
- Work with senior mechanics to complete repairs in a timely manner.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical or vocational training in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred.
- Previous experience in automotive, diesel, heavy equipment, or fleet maintenance is preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle systems and mechanical repairs.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- CDL or willingness to obtain one is a plus.
- ASE certifications are a plus but not required.
