Project Resource Planning Analyst
Position Summary
The Project Resource Planning Analyst is responsible for evaluating project requirements and determining the appropriate staffing, labor hours, and resources needed to successfully complete projects on time and within budget. This position works closely with project managers, operations, leadership, and other departments to analyze project scope, forecast workforce needs, identify resource gaps, and develop effective staffing plans.
The ideal candidate is highly analytical, organized, and able to balance multiple projects while adjusting resource plans based on changing schedules, priorities, and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Review project scopes, schedules, workload requirements, and deliverables to determine staffing and resource needs.
Estimate the number of employees and labor hours required to successfully complete projects.
Develop project staffing plans based on workload, timelines, employee availability, skills, and productivity expectations.
Forecast short-term and long-term workforce requirements across multiple projects.
Work with project managers and operations teams to ensure adequate staffing throughout each phase of a project.
Analyze employee capacity, utilization, workloads, and availability to identify potential staffing shortages or overages.
Recommend adjustments to staffing levels based on project schedules, deadlines, workload changes, and business priorities.
Track planned labor hours versus actual labor hours and identify significant variances.
Assist with estimating project labor costs and overall resource requirements.
Maintain project resource schedules, staffing forecasts, and workforce planning reports.
Identify potential scheduling conflicts and resource constraints before they impact project deadlines.
Coordinate the allocation and reassignment of personnel between projects when necessary.
Analyze historical project data to improve future staffing and labor estimates.
Develop reports and dashboards that provide management with visibility into staffing levels, labor utilization, project capacity, and resource needs.
Participate in project planning meetings and provide recommendations regarding staffing requirements and project feasibility.
Communicate changes in resource requirements to management and other appropriate stakeholders.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to project planning, workforce utilization, scheduling, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Project Management, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
Experience in project planning, workforce planning, estimating, scheduling, operations, or resource management preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to analyze project requirements and translate workload into staffing and labor-hour estimates.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other reporting or project management tools.
Experience analyzing staffing levels, productivity, capacity, and labor utilization.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with project managers, operations teams, employees, and senior management.
Strong attention to detail and ability to make recommendations based on data.
