Position Summary
The Hotel Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the hotel’s building, guest rooms, equipment, and common areas in safe and working condition. This position performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs while responding promptly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, hallways, public areas, and hotel facilities.
- Inspect and maintain plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, appliances, doors, locks, and other building systems.
- Respond to guest and staff maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Complete preventive maintenance to reduce equipment breakdowns and costly repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry issues.
- Maintain swimming pool, laundry equipment, kitchen equipment, and other hotel facilities as assigned.
- Keep maintenance areas, tools, and equipment clean and organized.
- Follow all hotel safety procedures and applicable building and workplace regulations.
- Document completed repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Report major problems or safety concerns to the Maintenance Manager or General Manager.
- Assist with emergency maintenance situations when necessary.
Qualifications
- Previous maintenance, hotel, apartment, commercial building, or related experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general repairs.
- Ability to use common hand and power tools safely.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, bend, climb ladders, and work in various positions as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Work Environment
This position may require working indoors and outdoors, including in guest rooms, mechanical areas, rooftops, and other hotel facilities. The employee may be required to work weekends, holidays, evenings, or participate in an on-call rotation.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry equipment and supplies, climb ladders, and perform maintenance tasks in confined or difficult-to-reach areas.
