The Catholic Community of Ascension & St. Augustine located in Elkridge and Halethorpe is seeking candidates for a Coordinator of Faith Formation (CFF). The coordinator of Faith Formation will be responsible for the oversight and managing of the Faith Formation program, as well as supporting the day-to-day activities. The faith formation program is for grades Pre-K to 5th. The Coordinator of Faith Formation plans and implements the parish program of catechetical instruction and faith formation for children K through 5th grade. The CRE will maintain the children’s liturgy program, JAM, on Sunday morning Masses. The CRE will be given a schedule that will include days, evenings and weekends to support the program. This is a part-time, non-benefit eligible position, working 19 weekly hours

Essential Functions:

  • Create a faith formation yearly calendar.
  • Procure all materials and supplies to the volunteers for the program from Sophia Teachers
  • Follow Safe Environment requirements for adult/youth volunteers according to the archdiocese guidelines.
  • Organization of registration and re-registration of students in ministry platform.
  • Recruitment and directions of volunteer leaders.
  • Promotion and maintenance of ongoing communication with parents and leaders through a yearly calendar of events, handbook and meetings.
  • Ensure the Safe Environment requirements (VIRTUS certification) policies and mandates for Parish Faith Formation volunteers are in compliance with Archdiocesan standards.
  • Manage yearly budgetsd budget
  • Will prepare and work with volunteers in a vacation bible study program for the children of the parish
  • Will work with the Pastor and Director of Pastoral Operations on having family events

Position Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church and parish and its mission.
  • Individual must have well developed "people skills" in interacting with all they engage.
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms that work with parents and families is helpful.
  • Possess good written and oral communication and organizational skills.
  • Individuals must have the ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
