Litigation Assistant / Paralegal

Position Overview

The Litigation Paralegal provides direct support to PI attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, from case intake and discovery through trial preparation and settlement. This role requires exceptional organizational skill, subject matter knowledge of personal injury law, and the ability to manage a high volume of active files simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

%CF; Draft, proofread, and file legal documents including complaints, answers, motions, and discovery requests and responses.

%CF; Request, organize, and summarize medical records, billing records, and police reports.

%CF; Prepare and send medical record authorization forms (HIPAA releases) to clients and providers.

%CF; Manage deposition scheduling, coordinate with court reporters, and prepare deposition binders and summaries.

%CF; Maintain detailed chronological case timelines and medical chronologies for all active PI files.

%CF; Assist in the preparation of demand packages, including compiling medical bills, records, and narrative summaries.

%CF; Coordinate subrogation and lien resolution with health insurers, Medicare/Medicaid, and workers' compensation carriers.

%CF; Conduct factual investigation, including witness interviews, scene research, and accident reconstruction coordination.

%CF; Calendar all critical case deadlines including discovery cutoffs, expert disclosure dates, and trial dates.

%CF; Communicate professionally with clients regarding case status updates, document needs, and next steps.

%CF; Assist attorneys in preparing for mediations, hearings, and trial.

Qualifications

%CF; 2+ years of experience as a paralegal in a personal injury or civil litigation setting.

%CF; Paralegal certificate or Associate's/Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies or a related field.

%CF; Familiarity with state court filing procedures and e-filing systems.

%CF; Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple high-priority files simultaneously.

%CF; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
