Laser Operator
Job Summary
The Laser Operator is responsible for operating CNC laser equipment, de-nesting and finishing laser-cut parts, and accurately identifying and organizing components in a just-in-time manufacturing environment. This position performs machine setups, monitors production quality, troubleshoots basic equipment and programming issues, and supports overall production goals.
The Laser Operator may also assist other machine operators as needed and may work across multiple laser platforms and manufacturing cells.
Available Shifts: 1st Shift and 2nd Shift
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform setups and operate CNC laser equipment, including CO2 laser systems.
Verify material thickness and load material into the laser stocker.
De-nest laser-cut parts and remove laser oxide and other material residue.
Inspect parts for quality and dimensional accuracy.
Perform assigned work according to established production standards and quality requirements.
Identify and resolve basic machine alignment and cutting-condition issues.
Troubleshoot minor program errors independently.
Apply a basic understanding of G-code and M-code.
Cross-train and work across multiple laser platforms, machines, and production cells.
Accurately record time and completed work using an electronic data collection system.
Safely operate a forklift to transport and handle materials.
Make routine production decisions and use problem-solving skills to resolve basic manufacturing issues.
Identify, report, and document material, production, and quality issues.
Maintain equipment performance logs and report equipment deficiencies to maintenance personnel.
Participate in operator-level preventative maintenance activities.
Assist other operators or production personnel as needed.
Follow all applicable workplace, machine, and safety procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Previous experience operating lasers, CNC equipment, or similar manufacturing machinery.
Ability to perform basic dimensional measurements and learn to use precision measuring instruments.
Competent in basic shop mathematics.
Ability to understand and apply basic G-code and M-code.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to safely operate a forklift.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and coordinate activities with other departments.
Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned work efficiently.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a highly technical manufacturing environment.
Experience operating Mitsubishi laser equipment.
Previous overhead crane experience.
Experience with CNC laser cutting and metal fabrication processes.
