Role Overview
This is a senior-level legal position focused on managing complex civil litigation matters from inception through resolution, including trial and appeal. Working in a hybrid capacity, you will serve as first-chair trial counsel, develop effective legal strategies, conduct courtroom advocacy, and work directly with clients to achieve favorable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Litigation
Case Management
Manage civil litigation matters from inception through resolution, including trial and appeal. Conduct case evaluations and develop effective legal strategies.
Pleadings
Discovery
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, and legal memoranda. Confidently conduct and defend depositions.
Courtroom Advocacy
Prepare and argue motions in court. Represent clients at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
Client
Expert Coordination
Manage client communications, provide regular case updates, and coordinate with experts, investigators, and other litigation support professionals.
Compliance
Documentation
Conduct legal research, analyze statutes/regulations, maintain accurate case documentation, and meet all court deadlines.
Required Qualifications
Education
Licensing
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar is mandatory.
Core Experience
Minimum of
8 years of civil litigation experience
with a proven history of independently managing complex cases from inception through resolution.
Trial Mastery
Demonstrated
first-chair trial experience
with strong courtroom advocacy skills.
Legal Knowledge
Strong knowledge of California civil procedure, evidence, and litigation practice.
Preferred Skills
Competencies
Advanced trial preparation, jury selection (Voir Dire), and direct/cross-examination layout.
Elite deposition management, motion practice, and legal writing skills.
Proven negotiation and alternative dispute resolution capabilities.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management abilities to work independently while collaborating effectively with a legal team.

Hybrid Framework
Offers flexibility for remote work, but in-person attendance is strictly required for client meetings, depositions, team meetings, court appearances, and other required in-person proceedings.
Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Citrus Heights office.

Benefits
Billable Hour Requirement
Annual billable requirement of 1,800 hours.
Attorney Bonus Program
Must achieve the annual goal of 1,800 billable hours. Earn $50 per hour for each credited hour worked above the goal (calculated using credited time, including qualifying billable and approved administrative time; capped at 250 hours above goal). Maximum Annual Bonus Opportunity: $12,500.
