Position Summary
The HCA/CNA– Manager Assistant provides direct caregiving services while supporting the Resident Manager with the daily operations of an Adult Family Home (AFH) serving up to 6 residents. This position requires strong caregiving experience, organization, leadership, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining resident safety, dignity, and quality of care.
The HCA/CNA– Manager Assistant provides direct caregiving services while supporting the Resident Manager with the daily operations of an Adult Family Home (AFH) serving up to 6 residents. This position requires strong caregiving experience, organization, leadership, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining resident safety, dignity, and quality of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and assistance with residents’ activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Assist with mobility, transfers, toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, meals, and other individualized care needs.
- Follow residents’ negotiated care plans, medication instructions, behavioral support plans, and safety protocols.
- Assist the Resident Manager with coordinating and prioritizing daily household and resident-care responsibilities.
- Support medication management, medication refills, appointments, documentation, and communication with appropriate providers as directed.
- Help oversee caregiver assignments and ensure required resident-care tasks are completed during each shift.
- Provide guidance and support to caregivers and communicate staff or resident concerns to management.
- Assist with maintaining accurate resident records, daily documentation, incident reporting, and required AFH logs.
- Monitor household supplies, resident supplies, medications, and other operational needs.
- Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, safe, and professional AFH environment.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and changes in residents’ conditions according to established policies and procedures.
- Assist management with extensive day-to-day tasks and assume additional responsibilities when the Resident Manager or Provider is unavailable.
- Maintain resident confidentiality, professional boundaries, and respectful communication with residents, families, staff, and healthcare professionals.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 1 year of hands-on caregiving experience, preferably in an Adult Family Home, assisted living, long-term care, or similar residential setting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and extensive caregiving and household responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational, time-management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to provide direction and support to other caregivers when assigned.
- Dependable, professional, flexible, and able to respond appropriately to changing resident and staffing needs.
- Must meet applicable Washington State requirements for working as a caregiver in an Adult Family Home, including required training, credentials, background checks, and certifications.
- Ability to safely perform the physical duties required to assist residents according to their individual care needs.
Preferred: Previous experience assisting with staff coordination, medication management, documentation, resident appointments, pharmacy/provider communication, or other AFH administrative responsibilities.
