Electrician Journeyman

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Journeyman Electrician to join our team. The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in accordance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and project specifications.

The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in electrical systems, able to work independently or as part of a team, and committed to producing safe, high-quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and systems.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, plans, and specifications.
• Install and terminate electrical panels, disconnects, breakers, conduit, wiring, lighting, and other electrical components.
• Diagnose electrical problems using appropriate testing equipment and troubleshooting procedures.
• Perform electrical work in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and company safety requirements.
• Verify circuits and equipment are properly installed, grounded, labeled, and functioning correctly.
• Perform preventive maintenance and electrical inspections as required.
• Work safely around energized and de-energized electrical equipment while following proper lockout/tagout procedures.
• Coordinate with other trades, supervisors, contractors, and customers as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Complete required documentation, service reports, and material requests.
• Assist apprentices and less-experienced electricians with training and proper work practices.
• Identify potential electrical hazards and take appropriate corrective action.
• Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition.

Qualifications

• Valid Journeyman Electrician license or certification as required by applicable jurisdiction.
• Demonstrated experience working with commercial, industrial, residential, or other applicable electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical theory, wiring methods, and applicable electrical codes.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Ability to use electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, climb, bend, kneel, and work in various physical environments.
• Valid driver's license may be required depending on job duties.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with commercial or industrial electrical systems.
• Experience with motor controls, generators, transformers, or control systems.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical equipment and control circuits.
• OSHA or other applicable safety training.
• Experience leading or mentoring apprentices.

Work Environment

This position may involve working indoors and outdoors, in construction environments, mechanical/electrical rooms, elevated areas, confined spaces, and other job-site conditions. The Journeyman Electrician must be able to work safely in varying temperatures and conditions while wearing required personal protective equipment.
