Pay Range: $165,000 - $210,000 annually

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a Mechanical Lead on a EPC power Project.
  • Provide strong leadership to drive mechanical technical design and project coordination.
  • Manage Project Schedules and Budgets as well as provide weekly reports to communicate project status, issues, and needs.
  • Prepare and maintain resource plans.
  • Prepare equipment inquiry/RFQ packages.
  • Perform equipment technical bid evaluations and prepare recommendations.
  • Review equipment vendor documents for compliance to project specifications and industry standards.
  • Develop job notes and technical scopes of work.
  • Perform field walk downs to collect information required to complete work.
  • Prepare man-hour estimates for proposals.
  • Attend Client, Vendor, and Internal Team meetings.
  • Present technical information to peers or other personnel for review, to implement operating procedures, and resolve system malfunctions.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Provide specific to discipline technical expertise to the degree of preparing and providing training for other personnel; both within the company and for the customer.
  • May supervise, coordinate, and review work of a small staff of engineers or designers on assigned work.
  • As a Licensed Professional Engineer, seals and signs all documentation produced by own work. May also seal and sign work done by engineers under direct supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS

Zachry Group is currently accepting applications for a Lead Engineer, Mechanical to join our Engineering Design Center located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be responsible in the design office for routine engineering and design tasks of the assigned projects based on specific and detailed instructions received from the assigned supervisor as to the required tasks and results expected.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience supporting EPC Power Generation projects. Experience with fossil fuel and/or combined-cycle power plants strongly preferred.
  • Experience serving as Lead Mechanical Engineer on large EPC Power projects, including oversight of engineering and design personnel.
  • Direct experience executing EPC Power projects is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required, or candidate must be eligible for reciprocity and/or actively pursuing licensure with completion expected in the near term.
  • Demonstrated experience with power generation systems including combustion turbines (CTGs), steam turbines (STGs), HRSGs, and associated balance-of-plant equipment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, including experience interfacing with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Working knowledge of ASME piping codes, including ASME B31.1 (Power Piping). Familiarity with ASME B31.3 preferred.
  • Knowledge of EPC project execution, project coordination, resource planning, schedule management, and budget management.
  • Must maintain active status in a drug and/or alcohol testing consortium.
