CNC Machinist, 5-Axis

As a 5 Axis CNC Machinist, you will operate complex machining equipment to produce high‑precision components that support mission-critical space hardware. You will prepare materials and tooling, coordinate production flow, and collaborate with programmers and leadership to meet customer demand while ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to established manufacturing standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintains AS9100 procedures and supports continuous improvement efforts.
- Prepares CNC equipment by ensuring material, tooling, cutters, programs, and fixtures are available and properly stored.
- Operates 5 axis CNC machines to manufacture products efficiently and safely.
- Works with management to prioritize machine schedules and optimize workflow.
- Collaborates with programmers to minimize setup time and improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Performs general CNC maintenance and keeps machines and work areas clean and organized.
- Orders cutters and tooling needed to support machining activities.
- Identifies and reports quality or time‑management concerns to management.
- Understands how product failures affect customers and contributes to product conformity and safety.
- Completes additional machining-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Adequate years of experience operating CNC equipment.
- Experience with Siemens 840D and Fanuc 31i‑B5 controls.
- Strong blueprint interpretation skills.
- Thorough understanding of machine setups, tooling, and cutters.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with all levels of management.
- Knowledge of quality management system (QMS) reporting, record keeping, and procedural compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Training related to applicable changes and customer requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Constant standing, walking, or sitting for at least 8 hours.
- Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 lbs, minimum 35 lbs.
- Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate tools and equipment.
- Ability to see clearly at approximately 20 inches or less; corrective lenses permitted.
- Prolonged periods of repetitive movement.
- Constant holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands.
- Occasional overhead, shoulder-level, and below‑shoulder reaching. The essential functions of this position must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
